UTRECHT. Cal. 11.2X72 (Schuler ?). S# 862 (on bolt) 560 (on the barrel). The 24-1/2" one third octagon, 2/3 round ribbed barrel is engraved with maker's name and address on milled out portion of matting on rib. Rear sight dovetail is plugged. "560" is newly stamped at rear of top left flat. Case hardened (now French gray) model 98 Mauser action has been fitted with Lyman 48 rear sight. Bolt body has been engine turned. Bottom metal is fitted with gold plated double set triggers and floor plate altered to be removed with push button. Receiver ring is nicely stippled. Bottom metal has some scroll and line borders. Nicely fiddle figured round knob pistol grip stock extends to muzzle with schnabled horn tip and has raised side panels around action, point pattern checkering, sling bail and loop. Stock measures 14-1/2" over black "Old English" pad. CONDITION: very good to fine as partially refinished. Barrel retaining most of a re-blue with some subsequent high edge wear. Case color of action faded to silver gray; surfaces remaining smooth. Stocks with added oil over some old marks and dings; checkering lightly worn. Bore is very good to fine; mostly shiny, a bit dark in grooves. Mechanically fine. PROVENANCE: From the Buckstix Collection. (25-6374/MGM). CURIO. $3,500-5,500.
